I'm cheering for the birds (21 februari, 2010)

I don't know if it will ever stop snowing. It is like the sky has opened and cannot close up again. Where is spring? Far away I suppose. Although I heard the birds chirping outside of my window one cold morning. They are trying to make way for spring, singing the snow away. No luck yet though.
I don't mind snow. I actually like it, but only a few weeks a year. Big snow flakes falling on Christmas morning is nice; white trees and a white layer on the ground to light up a dark winter day. I like that. But then it is enough. Now it is enough.
I need a long, warm summer to make up for it.
The other day I was out with the kids at school on their lunch break. I was out for about half an hour, prepared I thought, with gloves, hat and scarf. It is an understatement to say that it was cold: it was freezing. Luckily some of the kids wanted me to play with them; a game that involved a lot of jumping. Still, I was freezing. I shivered for the rest of the day. I simply could not get warm again.
I really need a long warm summer. Maybe I should help the birds sing the snow away.
